Written and directed by Japan's most renowned animator, Hayao Miyazaki, Princess Mononoke is the most successful Japanese film ever. This blockbuster is now headed for American movie screens, featuring the voices of Gillian Anderson, Billy Crudup, Claire Danes, Minnie Driver, Billy Bob Thornton and Jada Pinkett Smith.

The film's music is a sweeping orchestral experience with brilliant arrangements and crystal clear sound quality, easily rivaling any film score on the market. Celebrated Japanese composer Joe Hisaishi wrote and performed all the music, including the "Princess Mononoke Theme Song" which features lyrics by Miyazaki, sung by Sasha Lazard.

The Princess Mononoke Theme Song

Performed by Sasha Lazard, Composed and arranged by Joe Hisaishi, Lyrics by Hayao Miyazaki, Translated from the Japanese by Stephen Alpert, Adapted by Neil Gaiman:

In the moonlight I felt your heart
quiver like a bow-string's pulse
In the moon's pale light
you looked at me
Nobody knows your heart

When the sun has gone
I see you beautiful and haunting,
but cold
Like the blade of a knife
so sharp, so sweet
Nobody knows your heart

All of your sorrow, grief and pain
locked away in the forests of the night
Your secret heart belongs to the world
of the things that sigh in the dark,
of the things that cry in the dark
