Sonarmusic and Milan Records proudly present sonar 2002. This double disc set is the official companion album to the 9th Annual Barcelona International Festival of Advanced Music: or sonar 2002. This is Europe's biggest and most high profile Electronic music festival. This massive, three day event will be held in June in Barcelona, Spain with an expected attendance of 100,000+ concert go-ers from all across the globe.
· Featured at this eminent event are some of the world's most influential acts which include, DJ KRUSH, PET SHOP BOYS, CARL COX, YO LA TENGO, and JOHN DIGWEED among many others.
· The double disc set contains music by YO LA TENGO, ELEPHUNK among others, as well as exclusive tracks by CARL COX, ELLEN ALLIEN and more! This collection is divided into two distinct sounds:
· CD1: SonarDay - A mixture of funked up tracks accompanied by the downtempo, experimental sounds from daytime events. Featuring YO LA TENGO, BOMB THE BASS & LALI PUNA and more!
· CD2: SonarNight - Featuring the advanced, uptempo, techno, house, BPM beats of Sonar at night. Featuring CARL COX and FRANCOIS K. among others.
The SONAR by Day events take place in and around the complex of buildings belonging to the MACBA (Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona) and the CCCB (Center for Contemporary Culture of Barcelona). This pair of highly modern, white cement and glass buildings in the heart of the La Rambla district are located in the oldest parts of Barcelona. For the festival, the organizers completely close off the area surrounding the buildings, in order to create a controllable festival area.
The Sonar by Night event takes place at the Barcelona Fair, an indoor trade fair venue located on the edge of the city. This unbelievably large construction will house three giant stage areas, with the main stage holding at least 10,000 spectators for what must be one of the world's largest rave events. The main stage will feature headline artists PET SHOP BOYS, CARL COX, LAYO & BUSHWACKA, et al. The two side stages, will feature more specialized artists such as DJ KRUSH, ARTO LINDSEY and RADIO BOY among others.
