About the Record
As pioneers of jungle and drum n bass, 4hero massively changed the face of modern music and made a huge contribution to dance culture. Forging ahead with fresh beats and techniques on their new album Play With The Changes , the London-based duo of Dennis “Dego” McFarlane and Mark “Mark Mac” Clair have crafted genre-crossing stream of precious sonic moments entirely their own.
Play With The Changes marks 4hero's first album in six years, in a prolific career that has gained critical acclaim: a Mercury Prize nomination (1998's Two Pages ), MOBO award and widespread respect from the music industry. It is their duality of approach that makes them a cut above the rest. Influenced by underground techno as much as Chicago soul, their music is a synthesis of past and future, artificial and organic, strange and familiar. Intertwining live and electronic sounds, 4hero creates futuristic soul for real music heads. It's an experiment where they ‘play with the changes.'
New alliances have also been formed on the album. Grammy Award-winning legend Jody Watley makes a special appearance on “Bed of Roses” ; Angeleno Jack Davey (J*DaVey) appears on “Take My Time” ; Darien Brockington and Phonte of Little Brother contribute to “Give In” ; and Larry Mizell , who has written and produced for the Jackson 5, Marvin Gaye and countless others, joins Talita Long and a host of new talent on the title track. Other special guests include Bembe Segue & Kaidi Taitham, Terry Devos and Lady Alma .

About the Record
The A side (first played by Gilles Peterson) is ³Morning Child,² a hot tune that is part disco, part neo-soul, part musical. Its big cinematic and epic opening features the now mythical voice of Carina Andersson (Les Fleur). As a bonus, the 12-inch includes a string a cappella version of the song that shows the subtlety and beauty of the composition.
The B side is a hot soulful R&B track with the voice of up and coming US sensation J*DaVey. J*DaVey (recently signed to a major) is a strong new voice in the world of modern R&B and soul music. As with J Scott, Jody Watley and so many others, her collaboration with 4hero has resulted in a gem. ³Take My Time,² already favored in the US by KCRW DJ Garth Trinidad, is sure to become a dancefloor and radio hit with its catchy chorus and sensual rhythms.
